Janis Urste Activity program
Janis Urste while being busy in financial world is trying to be active as much as possible and help less active and less fortunate to spend quality time outdoors.
Janis Urste non-profit program has been developed to directly influence lifes of those around us. To change and to teach children and their carers the health and social benefits they can gain from improving their quality of life through physical activity and active play!
This program particular focus is on less fortunate kids in Indonesia and around Asia. The challenge is that most kids that live in hugely populated city ( Jakarta ) either don’t want to be active, or can’t be, for many reason – some families just aren’t able to afford to go outbound and are extremely saturated in Asia huge cities . Others just don’t get the availability of time. Others still are reluctant to join in physical activities for fear of failure or embarrassment.
You really can appreciate the value of time if you live in Jakarta. I first came here 6 years ago and I have been a lot less active since then - says Janis. Traffic jams are just something beyond our wildest imaginations. I could never imagine that when I was still living in UK. I have gained many extra pounds myself. Activity program is not created us to be able to help. It was created with a reason, with a clean target, to be able at-least once a month to gather families or just anyone who wants to do active, healthy and fun things. We organize competitions, sports games, active activities and camping trips. It help myself and my team to be more active and spend quality time. I really think that with this activity program is helping each other.
Whatever their reasons, the alarming fact is many inactive here in Asia and around the world kids are overweight or obese or at risk of being so. That’s unhealthy and unhelpful for them now, and potentially a serious threat to their long-term health and quality of life – the longer a child stays overweight the more likely they are to become an overweight adult with increased risk of health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and some forms of cancer. I am not a doctor however I would like to think we can help young generation to live healthier and more prosperous lives though our program.
Our program, maybe foundation - one day has over 18months of experience we are not experts yet, we just love what we do and try to help in some small way.
I hope to develop stronger community here in Asia with more people that want to get involved with society and help others.
